FRIDAY DECEMBER 6

  • Dec. 6, 2013- Noel Acadien au Village Acadian Village, 200 Greenleaf Drive, 5:30pm-9:30pm Admission: $9, $7
    Noel Acadien au Village will feature half-a-million lights, including the fully lit Open Door Chapel, themed Acadian home porches, and lighted holiday displays, live entertainment, carnival rides, local cuisine, photos with Santa, holiday shopping, and more.
  • Dec. 6, 2013- Lighting of the Historic Le Vieux Village,  Historic Le Vieux Village,828 E Landry Street, Opelousas, LA 70570, 5:00pm-8:30pm, Admission: Free
    Start your Christmas shopping with a visit to the streets of historical Grand Coteau. The gift shops will be open for your convenience offering refreshments and sales of antiques, jewelry, clothing, packaged sweets, home decor and other unique gift items. Enjoy holiday traditions such carriage rides and carolers.

  • Dec. 7, 2013 – Battle of the Paddles Gumbo Cookoff – Sample all you can eat gumbo and enjoy music and fun booths (caricature, face painting, photo, etc.). Soft drinks, water, hot chocolate, hot dogs, chips and homemade sweets will also be sold.   • Dec. 7, 2013- Christmas at North Regional Library - 10:00 AM- Free fun for the whole family! Holiday Craft (Ages 5-12) Also stay for the Author’s Book Sale & Signing. Meet and support local authors as they gather to sell and sign their books. Limited spaces available.
  • Dec. 7, 2013- Main Library’s Christmas Storytime at Iberia Parish Main Library, 445 E. Main Street New Iberia, 10:00am, Admission: Free- Here, you and your child can hear Christmas tales and enjoy the spirit of the holidays. SUNDAY DECEMBER 8

  • Dec. 8, 2013 – Jeanerette Christmas Parade – Christmas parade with Santa Claus, marching bands, dance groups and more. Main Street, Jeanerette, 1 – 3 p.m., 337-579-2153
  • Dec. 8, 2013 – Magic on Main Gingerbread Tea – A gingerbread man will greet children ages four through 10 and adults before they enter into a magically decorated gingerbread themed room. There will be singing, a visit by Santa and storytelling. Tea, hot chocolate and adult beverages will be available along with tea sandwiches and sweets. Holiday tea party attire is requested.
